Understanding Our Daylily Plant Codes

Each daylily cultivar is labeled with a set of plant codes that describe its characteristics — including bloom time, height, foliage type, and more. These codes help gardeners quickly understand what to expect from a plant.

If you’re new to daylilies, don’t worry — you don’t need to know every code to choose a plant you’ll love. This guide is here as a helpful reference whenever you’re curious or want more detail.

Example Code Breakdown:

  • T → Tetraploid

  • 20” → Height of the scape (flower stem)

  • M → Mid-season bloom

  • D → Dormant foliage

  • Re → Has potential to rebloom
